Short Surrounding of the installation RAIN MACHINE. The Rain Machine is a kind of assembly line for a chiefly natural event: rain. As long as the wheather forecast influences our lives, we wish to be able to control this natural outcome. While scientists work with lots of efforts on large-scale projects to save the climate, the global industries do not cede to ignore the "wheather" an its preconditions in order to produce an endless stream of goods and images of convenience. In this context the Rain Machine questions the sense of production. By showing a model of an apparatus that produces not more than ever circulating rain - besides a disturbing mix of humming sounds, dazzling and glaring lights - the visitor may be left not only with taste of cool air after the rain has gone. Technical description: Provided with a movement sensor, the RM reacts upon the approaching visitor. Once the sensor is activated, a coloured spinning light starts to indicate an automatic process: an immersion pump sends water through the pipes of the system, located on the RM. After a number of ventilated water is random chatter drops that hit the roof, as the membrane. amounts of water - collective action - at the pump and continue to flow into the sensor terminates the process.
